Summer is in full bloom. Temperatures are soaring outside but even with the air conditioning, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep the temperature in check at home.
The greatest challenge that I see every day is the tussle that young mothers face in keeping their children engaged during the summer vacations. Both my daughter and daughter-in-law face the same issues as their children are young and both of them are working women. Having to attend to a variety of chores and taking care of their work are challenges in themselves and added to that if they have to think about engaging their children too, then I really do not think it is possible!
Some parents resort to letting the children watch the television for long hours or even hand their mobiles just to keep the children engaged and away from the outdoors, but is that conducive to a child’s growth? Most certainly not! Watching television too needs adult supervision and stepping out in the present temperatures is a strict no. Once the parents are home in the evening they can certainly spend quality time with their children reading books, or taking them out for hobby classes involving activities such as karate or swimming. Yet, the question remains what are the children supposed to do that is engaging and meaningful, while their parents are not around?
One could search for places which are child friendly and have options for engaging children in activities that help them learn as well as excite them to look forward to the next day. Symbi Stars, the kindergarten has planned such classes for young children. The schools are offering a 15-days offline Summer School Program for children in the age group of 4 years to 12 years. The curriculum has been designed in a manner that it provides enjoyment as well as develops their skills. The children will share stories that will grow their communication skills and build their confidence. This programme also aims to develop their logical abilities and scientific temperament. The age groups are also varied as we know that a four-year-old and a ten-year-old cannot be grouped together and asked to adhere to the same curriculum. The curriculum has been designed for three different age groups and is even available for children who are not enrolled with Symbi Stars.
So hopefully many parents will utilise this opportunity to keep their children away from the heat and the outdoors and engage in activities that contribute to their holistic growth.
