Monday Motivation: New Beginnings in 2024!

As we bid adieu to 31st December and welcome 1st January, we realize that the New Year is a special day. One, because you say goodbye to the earlier year and keep remembering all the good and bad things that have happened through the year, it is like a recap of all the events that have occurred throughout the 365 days of the year. At the same time, you also think about what the new year will be. So, 31st December is as significant as 1st January. But when you enter 1st January post-midnight or even at 12 am, you start making resolutions for the new year, and that makes it very special because you start making resolutions for your unfulfilled desires.

Making resolutions is excellent because it is something like goal setting. But don’t come up with too many resolutions. I think resolutions should be just one for your family, one for yourself, and one for the organization that you work for. If you just make these three resolutions, they are doable. Like in the corporate world, you set goals but not so many that you cannot achieve them. Similarly, if we keep just a few goals for ourselves, we can achieve them. So, when you make resolutions, these are goals that you set for yourself.

The one you set for yourself should be your priority: fitness, nutrition, meditation, or yoga. Also, avoid burdening yourself with the thought of achieving it every single day. You could start with three days in a week, ensuring that you keep moving ahead. Also, it is essential to have ‘me time,’ so keep one day in a week or maybe even half a day in a week for yourself. For most working women like me, Sunday becomes the day when you wrap up all the chores for the week, so maybe half a day of Saturday can be kept aside for your own self and spent reading a book in a bookstore or going to the parlour, or even going out with friends. Therefore, resolve that you will keep some time for yourself this year. So, prioritizing your health and saving time for yourself could be your resolution for this year.

The second is your family. Again, health plays an important role. If you are a woman, you can choose what food you want to cook for your family. Can you reduce the consumption of junk food? Can you reduce going out too often? Apart from that, you can also ensure that your children participate in some social activities. Your children can go and teach in a school, volunteer in an old-age home, or do some other act of kindness that will make them sensitive to the needs of others.

The third for your organization can also be simple. Can I be punctual every day? Can I not carry my laptop or phone to meetings? It could also be partaking in teamwork and becoming a part of the organization’s larger goal. You can keep it simple and, in that way, it becomes easy to achieve.

If you set up these one or two goals for your individual self, your family and your organization, then you can achieve them. So, on 31st December 2024, you can check on what you have achieved, and therefore, you can resolve some more achievable goals in 2025.

I am happy that in 2023, I could maintain discipline. It was a resolution that I had made for myself. I resolved that I would write a blog every Monday, and I am so glad that on 31st December when I checked whether I could do that, I could write a blog every Monday of 2023. So simple yet achievable goals are the mantras to attaining them.

Once again, I wish all my readers or those who have connected with me on social media a healthy and prosperous New Year. I am glad to have shared my personal and professional life with you through social media. I hope we continue our association.
