Monday Motivation: The Power of the first Monday of the Year!

While the first day of the New Year—1st January—is always celebrated, the first Monday of the year deserves just as much recognition. It marks the return to routine: the first day back at work, the first day of school after the Christmas and New Year holidays, and a gentle nudge back into everyday life. Naturally, this Monday brings with it a mix of emotions.

As children, we feel a little anxious because school reopens after a long break. As professionals, we look forward to reconnecting with colleagues and getting back into the rhythm of work. At home, adjustments are needed once again—after days of everyone being together, each family member gradually slips back into their own routine.

I have always viewed Mondays as Motivational Mondays. Every Monday morning, I wake up with anticipation, looking forward to the week ahead—new opportunities, new experiences, and new people. It’s a fresh start, a chance to keep the spirit of motivation alive both at work and at home.

The first Monday of the year holds a special place for me. As a child, I loved returning to school after the Christmas break. I eagerly awaited meeting my friends, sharing stories of how we spent our holidays, and laughing about how much we missed one another. As an adult, I continue to look forward to the beginning of the year—setting goals for myself and my team, inspiring those around me, and embracing the promise of a new beginning.

I often hear people talk about the “Monday blues,” but Mondays have always excited me. That enthusiasm is what inspired me to start writing a blog every Monday, aptly named Monday Motivation. My hope is that the energy and positivity I feel at the start of each week spreads to others as well.

After all, if we can begin the year with motivation on its very first Monday, imagine what the rest of the year can hold.
